Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine the main body in the system of central executive bodies, which ensures the formation and implementation of state policy in the field of environmental protection, forestry, hunting and water management, subsoil use, management of the exclusion zone and the zone of unconditional (mandatory) resettlement, overcoming the consequences of the Chernobyl disaster, decommissioning of the Chornobyl NPP and implementation of state supervision (control) in the field of environmental protection, rational use, reproduction and protection of natural resources.

State Statistics Service of Ukraine ensures the implementation of the state policy in the field of statistics, the creation and proper functioning of the national system of economic and statistical information on the territory of Ukraine (section Economic statistics / Environmental environment).

The State Enterprise "Ukrainian Institute of Intellectual Property", UIIV is an institutional component of the state system of legal protection of intellectual property in Ukraine. Responsible for conducting formal and qualification examination of applications for industrial property objects (inventions, utility models, industrial samples, signs for goods and services, topography of integrated microcircuits and indication of the origin of goods) for compliance with the conditions for granting legal protection, makes decisions on the issuance of protective documents, ensures state registration of objects of industrial property and official publication of information about them.

 

Non-governmental Organizations
 

National Ecological Center of Ukraine, NECU consolidates individuals for common action to protect the environment. Among NECU members are scientists, journalists, artists, students and other people who are willing to add their own effort to environmental protection. The organization has branches in dozens of Ukrainian cities.

Green Cross Ukraine public, non-profit charitable organization, the purpose of which is: taking measures aimed at ensuring a sustainable and safe future of the planet, environmental education, fostering a sense of responsibility for the consequences of civilization's impact on the environment.

All-Ukrainian Environmental League a public organization that aims to improve the ecological situation in Ukraine, to form the foundations of balanced (sustainable) development in Ukraine, to form a new environmental outlook, and to raise the level of environmental education and culture of citizens.

Ukrainian Nature Conservation Group, UNCG public organization, the purpose of which is to unite the efforts of scientists, experts and public activists for the protection of biodiversity, the preservation and development of the nature reserve fund, and the implementation of international environmental protection legislation in Ukraine.

European Environment Agency, EEA EU agency for providing independent information on the state of the environment.

International Union for Conservation of Nature, IUCN an international organization whose purpose is to preserve natural resources.

Global Environment Facility, GEF an international organization that works to improve the state of the global environment by supporting national initiatives for sustainable development.

United Nations Industrial Development Organization, UNIDO a special institution of the UN, among the priority directions of which are the protection of the environment and the preservation of natural resources, the introduction of resource-saving technologies.

United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, UNESCO the international commission of the UN on education and culture, which also deals with the problems of environmental education and upbringing.

United Nations Environment Programme, UNEP a contribution to the implementation of the environmental protection component of sustainable development within the framework of the UN system, consistently advocates for the protection of the natural environment of the globe, often sponsors and promotes the implementation of projects related to ecology.

United Nations Children's Fund, UNICEF the UN children's fund, which pays attention to non-formal environmental education and upbringing of children and youth.

United Nations Development Programme, UNDP aimed at the fight against poverty and reducing inequality. Helps countries develop policies, leadership skills, partnership capacities, institutional capacity and build resilience to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

World Health Organization, WHO the organization pays attention to the population's information about the state of the living environment, provides medical assistance to countries suffering from disasters.

World Meteorological Organization, WMO the organization that conducts global environmental monitoring of the atmosphere.

 

International Non-governmental Organizations

Global Network on Environmental Science and Technology, Global NEST an international association of scientists, technologists, engineers and other interested groups involved in all scientific and technological aspects of the environment, as well as in the application of methods aimed at sustainable development.

World Wildlife Fund, WWF an international non-governmental organization engaged in nature conservation, research and restoration of the natural environment.

Global Ekolabelling Network, GEN an international non-commercial association, the main purpose of which is the promotion, development and improvement of environmental labeling programs on national, regional and international markets, as well as the promotion of sustainable procurement, ensuring cooperation between environmental labeling bodies for the exchange of best practices, harmonization of methods for evaluating environmental indicators and development base of ecological criteria.

Greenpeace an international non-governmental environmental protection organization whose main tasks are to promote ecological revival and attract the attention of people and authorities to nature conservation.
